Building a kingdom business

The first step

Building a Kingdom business is to do things God’s way and this means accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and to follow Him in your personal and business life. The first step, if you have not already done so, is to accept Jesus as you Lord and saviour Jesus came to our world as a man to cleanse and free us from our sins and to reconcile us to God.

By accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we are born to eternal life with God and our lives begin to be transformed by following Jesus. There are different prayers one can pray in accepting Jesus but they all focus on acceptance of Jesus. You can pray the following prayer. It is important that you pray slowly and let the Holy Spirit come into you life as you pray.

“Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open my heart to you and ask you to come in as my Lord and Saviour. Take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life with You. Make me the kind of person you want me to be.”

God’s business guide

The Bible, which is God’s Word given to man, tells us how we should respond to God and other people. It also creates the cornerstone of how we should run our business. These are recommended principles for you to follow in your business:

commit, in prayer, all that you do to the Lord. Seek the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit for your life and your business.

go the second mile ie do more than expected. This is based on Jesus’ teaching.

think of others first and follow what is known as the Golden Rule ie the Bible verse found in Luke 6:31 “do to others as you would have them do to you.”

run your business with purpose and vision.
be decisive and make decisions based on Christian values. Don’t be afraid to say “no” if it goes against the values that Jesus taught.
practice good stewardship and use the resources you have wisely.
be generous to others – helping them in whatever way you are led to.
sow bountifully – you will reap what you sow. Don’t be afraid to start small, practice patience. Be constantly trying new things.
look for opportunities to share with others what God is doing in your life.

remember Jesus words when He was asked what the greatest command is “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
